  • Where to get a hood for Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L Lens

    Hey all-

Will be purchasing my first Canon ( ) and am getting the 70-200mm f/4.0L lens. Only problem is I'm ordering it from B&H, & I don't think it includes a hood. Anybody know where I can get one?

    Thanks,
    Justin

Yes the 70-200F4L comes with a hood, front and rear end caps, a grey sueade pouch and the documentation.

All "L" lenses come with the hood and most come with a pouch of some sort.

Good choice on the lens!! Yes, it most certainly comes with a hood, and yes, you will certainly get great pictures.

Alright! I'm psyched- I'm ordering the 350D! Do you guys think 200mm is enough zoom? Anyone know what it would be equiv to in 'x' terms (i.e. 10x zoom?)?

im GUESSING that 200mm would be about 5x optical zoom?

                      Its a 2.85 (approx) zoom ratio (200/70)

                      In terms of 35mm
                      1.8x to 5.26x (70/38 and 200/38 )

Add on crop factor and you have a decent amount of zoom.

200 even with the crop factor might not cut it for some airports.

Add crop factor onto it and you then get 320mm (8.4x), only 60mm shorter than your C-740, plus the quality will be much superior so you will then be able to crop away a lot of the picture and still end up with better quality than your C-740.
