  • photo is soft

I had one photo being rejected this morning for being soft. I am looking at the photo and I am not sure in which area it is soft.

Can someone advise me in which area the photo is soft ?

    Thank you.

The whole plane. Really does look like it hasn't been sharpened.

I did USM 50%, .3 and 0 twice. On my screen, it does not look unsharpened.

Just give it a tad more shapening and it should be sorted

Looks like it was taken at a very high focal lenth. That will cause you to lose a lot of sharpness.

            Hi Pierre,

I just saved a copy of the image posted above and hit it with 2 more passes of USM @ 150% radius 0.2, threshold 0 and it looks a lot better a only a tiny bit jagged in places so a total of 200% would be better. I did adjust the colour slightly as the shot does have the trademark Nikon blue hue that also helped. Working with the original would be better though.

            Mark

You have your in-camera processing for contrast set to "HARD"...........not ideal.
