  • Over processed question.

Hi dear jetphotoers. Don't know if this is the right place, but I have a pretty interesting question: some photos are taken at the same location and same time, with same editing techniques, sometimes they come with different screening results, usually rejected for Over processed. For example, I have a photo here: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/11037139 but a photo was rejected for over processing: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11182231

I'm not questioning whether this photo should be accepted or not, I agree with the screening results. And if I use tools to re-check the photo, I can do see that it was over processed. But why? I use the same camera, photo taken at same location and time, same editing tools and techniques, but one is over processed and the other not. Isn't that interesting?

Hope I can get some help here.

    Thanks!

Not a screener but this is what I think. First, there are over 20 screeners on JP so there are bound to be some slight variations in terms of standards acceptable to them. It's just the consequence of having multiple human screeners on the site.

Second, your editing workflow might also be a factor in such rejects like if you are using highlights, shadows, vibrance, etc... which do cause overprocessing (and I would recommend avoiding if you can). The threshold at which an image will start to be overprocessed of course changes with each image i.e. some might start to be overprocessed at 30 vibrance, some at 20.
