  • Have come accross around 100 photos from the past. Unfortunatley they are 10x7.5cm size and in b&w. All of military a/c from yester-year. Have managed to scan and edit one ( I know it's probably a long shot) but will this have a chance in the DB?

    • Unless you took the photos or had permission from the person who did take them, then no they are not acceptable.

I did not take the photos myself, nor do I know who took them. The only info I have on them is that they were taken around the 1950's. All I remember was purchasing them from ebay about a year ago.

            • There's a fair bit of dead space there.

Personally I think a far more powerful image would be to crop just at the end of the 2nd outboard flap.
You get the same nice contrasts, the wet ground, but you eliminate the dead area on the right side of the shot.
Submitted as it is now, its probably acceptable, potentially running the risk of a centering/composition reject.

Thanks for your replies guys. I have attached both versions of the image as I'm not sure were to turn with it now. Any advice on which to queue would be greatly appreciated.
                Thanks

                • JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

although it would probably need a tiny bit of re-editing, would this be an okay motive?
Note: I did not copy PMN, I am in fact obsessed with both (ask anyone who knows me and they would confirm that I talk constantly about these things

                    Tough call honestly Ryan.
The second one is definately a much more powerful image, but it has lost some quality in the crop.
The first one is slightly higher quality, but again I feel it suffers from a lot of dead space.

Personally I would go with 2 - but its not an automatic accept - I would take it personally, but both shots are really 50-50 calls, I could see them both go either way.
These are the shots that make screening fun

In all honesty, it does nothing for me at all.
As with all motive based issues the question is what exactly are you trying to show us here.

Also the color would need a lot of work, there is a strong blue cast on the image and there is a danger of picking up an obstruction reject because of the person blocking the nosewheel.

                      Not for me I'm afraid.

Number two uploaded can't wait to see the results of the screening.

                                Well maybe

Crop, light and sharpening are oke, I just have the feeling it leans to the left.

                                cheers, Pamela
