  • old current color schemes

What are some of the color schemes you know of which have been around for what seems to be forever? If you know the date the scheme was introduced, please tell us. Don't hesitate to tell us what you think of certain color schemes!

Here are some of the ones I know offhand:
    -Singapore Airlines (1987)
    -Korean Air (1984)
    -Malaysia (mid 80s)
-American (late 60s or early seventies?)
    -Air China (late 60s?)
-KLM (late 70s) although being replaced
    -Qantas (early 80s)
-Air India (I dunno exactly, a long time!)
-Thai Airways (not too sure on that one either)
    -Air France (early 70s)

Ariana Afghan Airlines (used since 1970 - Their old livery refused to change even after the recent induction of ex-Air India Airbus A300s)

Avianca still has some MD-83s and Fokker 50s, with a livery introduced in the early 70s, livery that has been carried by 737s, 727s, MD83s, F-50s, 747s, 757s, 767s and 707s.

Let's not forget American, their scheme dates back more then 30 years. Although I can't imagine seeing American in any other livery.

The Air India livery has been around for as long as I can imagine. They changed it a bit in the beginning, but then reverted back. They are due for a change now, i hope someone in the administration realises that.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

Some more that come to my mind:

                    Iberia, since circa 1979
                    Air Algérie, since the eighties
                    Sudan Airways, since the seventies
TAAG Angola Airlines, since the seventies
LOT Polish Airlines, since circa 1978
All Nippon Airways, since circa early eighties
Philippine Air Lines, since circa early eighties

I guess there are quite a few others out there.

                    Regards,
                    Peter

I remember when American Airlines switched to their current livery and experimented with variations of the livery before they settled on the current one. They tried variations that left off the AA Eagle, and received considerable feedback that the Eagle had to be a part of the new livery.
