Earlier today, May 19th 2023, Spirit Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A321-271NX. N702NK built as SN 11328 will become ship 6702 in Spirits fleet. The aircraft departed from Airbus’s facility in Hamburg, XFW around 1145am making a tech stop in Keflavik, KEF after a 3hr first leg. About an hour later, the aircraft made a 6 hour second leg arriving at Spirit’s Detroit metro, DTW base a little after 4pm local time.
The Spirit Airbus 321Neo is expected to enter into revenue service starting early in June of this year. The aircraft will compliment Spirit’s current all Airbus narrow body fleet of A319s, A320, A320Neos and A321s. On top of the 30 other A321Neos Spirit has on order, the airline is still taking deliveries of 59 more A320Neos in addition to the 77 currently in service. The airline also has 31 A319Neos on order.
