  • Lufthansa grounds another 15 jets

    Lufthansa today announced grounding additional 15 jets.

    The total number of planes grounded is 70. Lufthansa owns 400+.

        Why are they grounding planes anyway?
        "The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

              Lufthansa is facing some problems. Most of the grounded jets are smaller and regional jets. They must get a lot of competition by LCC's. On the other side they even had to lease longhaul jets.

                    I imagine that the remaining 742's are part of that as well. I flew FRA-YVR in a 742 on April 4th only to return two weeks later on a 744. The Classic had been taken out of service, I was told.
