  • Why Do Aircraft Have Genders?

Why do people almost ALWAYS call an aircraft "she?" The say "oh, she's got 8,857 service hours on her." Is she happy, when you give "her" a full tank of JETA; or she gets "her" engines disassembled, and reassembled once a year? Is "she" happy when she happy when "she" is woken up to do an unexpected late night charter? Males and females call: cars, trains, busses, but mostly aircraft "she." Why do they do this?

    Thanks Much,
    Douglas DC-9-32

This is such a pointless topic. But yeah, I agree with Cory!!!

holding doors for airplanes must be a hard job. Imagine you'd have to opne a maintaince hangar by yourself.
