  • Aloha Airlines to return two 737

Aloha Airlines has decided to eliminate service to the Central and South Pacific and will suspend operations to Burbank and Vancouver following a route analysis. It also has decided to return two 737-300s, but through improved utilization and optimized scheduling it still intends to expand its operations to California. Additionally, the airline said its route analysis determined that its nonstop Las Vegas service was unprofitable owing to overcapacity and highly discounted fares and it will operate daily Las Vegas service via Oakland in lieu of the nonstop beginning April 3

Interesting, especially given that they don't have any 737-300s.

Do Aloha still have any 737-200's in their fleet?

Yes they do. They fly the interisland routes.

Why not? WN would increase service and bring the prices WAY down.

Because I don't believe it's fair that WN should be able to create basically a monopoly of sorts in every section of the country.

Which of the Aloha routes would be monopolies? Unless you don't count HNL-BUR and HNL-LAX as competing routes.

They used to have 3 which introduced today's livery.

Monopoly my a$$. Until WN has over 50% of the market share for domestic airline travel it won't even qualify as a majority. I doubt WN even has 20% right now.

Also Aloha's subsidiary Island Air who uses Dash-8's can only fly to certain islands.

Island isn't owned by Aloha anymore, so I don't see any problem.
