  • Air Canada A340-300 engine got hit by fuel truck at HKG (w/ photo)

An Air Canada A340-300, operating flight AC080 to Vancouver from HongKong, got its no.4 engine hit by a fuel truck at HKG about 30min before departure. All 230+ passengers and crews were asked to leave the plane so the engine can be inspected. There was only minor damage to the hull of the engine. The damage was not fixed, however, in HKG since it is not a threat to safety. The flight finally departed 3hrs late and has already arrived at YVR at this moment. Airport Authority is now investigating why the accident happened.

"Sounds like someone had a case of the mondays!"

Geeze! How much would a new CFM engine cost? From what I seel I doubt AC will need to replace the engine totaly, just the cowling more so.

I don't think it had anything to do with AC. The fuel truck is operated by someone else.

AFAIK, AC didn't drive the truck. So grow up and stop insulting AC at every opportunity.

hehehehe , your becomming worse than I am with Westjet.

Its not AC's fault, Its the Fuel/Ground handling companys driver fault, not AC's. Now if the engine fell on the truck, now thats a different story.

You seriously need to drop it and grow up.

Small correction. The flt was AC008-19. The acft is in YYZ MTC now (23:00-20) for #4 engine cowl repairs.
