  • Cargo plane skids upon landing in eastern Malaysia

A cargo plane Monday morning skidded upon landing at the Kuching International Airport in eastern Malaysia.

The aircraft, displaying the logo of DHL, an international courier company, skidded in rains when landing at the airport at about 6:20 a.m. local time (2220 GMT), according to reports of the Bernama news agency.

The incident caused the runway to be closed temporarily. All incoming and outgoing flights scheduled for Monday morning have been rescheduled with about 1,000 passengers stranded at the airport.

Airport manager Abang Abdullah Abang Joss confirmed the accident but declined to give details. There were no reports of casualties up to now.

This is the second incident of its kind taking place in the Kuching airport located in the Sarawak state recently.

On Feb. 19, an Airbus A330 aircraft of Malaysian Airlines skidded and was stuck in the mud at the end of the runway when taking off to fly to Kuala Lumpur.

that's a misleading title. Most airplanes skid when they land . Maybe Hydroplane would be a better used.
