Picture: Turkish Viscount painted in old THY-livery for TV
A Turkish air force Vickers Viscount which was previously operated by flag-carrier THY has been repainted in one of the airline's former liveries for a television documentary about one-time prime minister Adnan Menderes' life.

Menderes, who was prime minister from 1950-1960, survived the crash of a Viscount near London Gatwick Airport in 1959, although 14 people including five crew were killed. The aircraft was registrarated TC-SEV (c/n 429).

THY operated Viscounts until 1971 when they were replaced by McDonnell Douglas DC-9s. The final three aircraft were transferred to the air force which stopped using them in 1993.

The sister of TC-SEV, displayed in the Turkish Aviation Museum is c/n 430 and was previously TC-SEL. It will be repainted after filming in the so-called 'pyjamas' livery.
