Thai AirAsia starts Hanoi-Kuala Lumpur flights

    HANOI, Sept 22, 2006 (AFP) -
Thai AirAsia, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based budget carrier AirAsia, will open direct flights between Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur next month, a company official said Monday.

More than ever, the Air Asia group of airlines is set to justify its corporate name. Equipment will likely be 737-300s as the A320 is still an exclusivity by the parent company.

On a side note, it would be interesting to see if anything is to happen to Thai AirAsia. As I recall, it is a co-operation between AirAsia (49%) and the conglomerate owned by the Thaksin family (51%). Now that the PM has been overthrown, his business would definitely be under scrutiny by the new government.

On a positive note, the scrutiny leads for the sale of Thaksin stock to Air Asia, which would be glad to purshase.
