  • Czech airline Travel Service to buy 2 Boeing 737-900s

    from http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/...e_Airlines.php

PRAGUE, Czech Republic Czech Republic's biggest privately owned airline, Travel Service, has signed a contract with Boeing Co. to purchase two planes, the airline said Friday.

The company said in a statement it will receive two Boeing 737-900s under the 1.8 billion koruna (US$80.66 million; €63.35 million) deal in 2009.

Travel Service, which has a fleet of 10 Boeing 737 planes, said it carried more than 1.8 million passengers last year. In May 2004, the company also started operating the country's first low-cost airline, Smart Wings.

2 739s for $80.66? That would be a 45-50% discount on list price, and given the rather small size of the order, I doubt Boeing would give such a large discount.

Well, Boeing's effort is understandable, they get good reason TVS will buy more for themselves and Smart Wings, the latter tier being of great interest !!!.
