No, he's just confident in his skills and really is "that good". Flying is a skill, the more you work at it and do it, the better you become and with enough experience one could be cabable of pulling that kind of stuff off with confidence and safely. Now there isn't 0% risk, but then again everytime you get out of bed in the morning and step outside, you are taking some risks. He's a good pilot.
