  • CO beginning EWR-BOM-EWR Monday

Third nonstop between Mumbai and NYC/Newark in the past year. BOM's really getting the good stuff now.

Now all we need is ORD-BOM-ORD with AA.

I am thinking once AA gets enough aircraft e.g. 787's or 777ER, I could AA doing ORD-BOM-ORD.

Yep as it is DL already has to do several tech stops on the JFK-BOM legs. CO will likely have to do the same so there is really no advantage to these flights over stopping in LHR, AMS, FRA etc.

Make that BOM-JFK and you'd be correct . Besides, the number of fuel stops has gone down quite a bit as DL has gotten more and more experience on this route as far as cargo/pax restrictions go. Which is also why JFK-BOM will be the first route to get the 77L from March 08 on, to fully get rid of the fuel stop risk, and to fill the whole jet with as much cargo as possible. For CO, they'll probably have to wait till their 789s arrive to fully eliminate the risk of fuel stops.

Having checked records from Flightware for the past few months, there haven't been any fuel stops on the westbound legs. Same goes for CO and AA doing DEL-EWR and DEL-ORD runs also. So the advantage factor is there now.
