I think its much better than the current, but I remember seeing another one, that was supposed to be the new livery on a 777 and I thought that was the best. It was in maroon or something, with a new version of the existing air india logo.

The other one you saw was the very short-lived new livery of AI before its merger with IC. It was very similar, except it had red paint in place of red-orange and a better looking split cheatline from the nose to the tail, with the upper part swooping up to the tail's red section.
