  • 5th airline for the United Arab Emirates to launch this month

    From Payload Asia magazine:

The UAE’s fifth airline will launch commercial service out of the emirate of Fujairah this month. Kang Pacific Airlines will initially operate between the UAE and the Philippines, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, with future services to the UK planned.

The airline is the brainchild of Indian businessman Paul Kang, who is self-fi - nancing the airline’s launch with $10m in startup capital to procure two DC- 10s, a B747 and B737 over the next six months. The fl eet will primarily consist of leased aircraft roughly 20 years old. The carrier will fl y under an AOC issued by the Philippine government. It expects to receive its UAE certifi cate in six to eight months. Kang has signed a maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik to regularly service the planes in the Philippines.

The UAE’s other airlines are Etihad (Abu Dhabi), Emirates (Dubai), RAK Airways (Ras al-Khaimah) and Air Arabia (Sharjah).

From their website: The year 2007 will see the launch of Kang Pacific Airlines (KPA), the airline of Fujairah, the most easterly of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. Based in Fujairah International Airport, KPA will operate to Europe, initally to East Midlands Airport(UK), and from Fujairah, services will operate to the Indian sub-continent, and Asia-Pacific, including Manila.

I didnt read any A319's leased by Kang Pac, yet they have one painted in Kang Pac in their website logo..

Another one ? LoL.. Im thrilled to see the expansion of UAE, Seems an airline pops up once a while every two year :P Since there's many OFW's in the UAE, this just gives them another airline option when these OFW working abroad going home back and forth between Asia and Middle East. Good to see they will be taken care of by the LH Technic Philippines, truly specialists in mechanic!.....Happy Wings !

This idea doesn't attract me at all, especially with the proposed yucky fleet.

            Well, let's see:
-Fujairah is home to only around 160k people
-They are far away from the big cities (Dubai and Abu Dhabi)
-They will fly old, maintenance-intensive, fuel-guzzling hangar queens while the competitors fly the newest stuff the market has to offer
Certainly does not look like a viable, longterm-successful concept to me.
