  • SAS Q400's back in service

SAS returned it's Q400's to service yesterday, Oct. 4. SAS said the grounding of its fleet of 27 Q400s will be lifted on October 4 when its first aircraft of the type returns to service, remaining Q400s returning soon after. The airline said there will be further flight cancellations as it gradually brings the fleet back into service. It was forced to ground the aircraft following the collapse of landing gear on two separate flights last month and subsequent discovery of landing gear corrosion on 25 of its 27 Q400s. It has estimated the grounding is costing SEK10-SEK15 million (US$1.5-$2.3 million) per day. "The aircraft are undergoing a number of extra inspections that SAS has chosen to perform in addition to the replacements and inspections prescribed by the authorities and manufacturer," the carrier said. "The first Q400's are ready for test flights that will take place in the next few days." Source: Air Transport World

Apparently SAS had sued Bombardier for 500million dkk, Still today no response has gotten to SAS. According to Reuters, other Q400 operators wants to sue Bombardier, As of now the canadian spokesman John Arnone dont want to verify if there would be/is any negotiations with SAS regarding the lawsuit.

Edit: Goodrich has now been involved individually as they are the manufacturer of the landing gears of this type.
