  • Jet Airways buys 20 more 737-800s!

MUMBAI, Oct 8 Asia Pulse - Private carrier Jet Airways (BSE:532617) has signed an agreement to buy 20 Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the US-based company, with an option to buy ten more, to augment its fleet.

The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered between October 2012 and December 2014 subject to regulatory approvals, the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange. The agreement is aimed at maintaining and expanding its international and domestic operations using B737NG aircraft, it said.

The company, under the purchase agreement, has also taken the option of acquiring an additional ten Boeing 737-800 series aircraft, it added. These ten aircraft are scheduled to be delivered between August 2013 and February 2015, it said. The last of the ten B737NG aircraft, previously ordered by the company are scheduled to be delivered on October 11, 2007 and there are no unused delivery positions for B737NGs available till October 2012, it added.

Wow, more and more. I am surprised that they need this many planes seeing that they will be getting the aircraft from Air Sahara (and they already have an impressive fleet already), but then again, they need the aircraft. I hope that they are able to get them as they need them. Who has open slots in 2012 (so that they can buy them if they need them)? Anyway, great news. Congratulations to Boeing and to Jet Airways!!!
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

Sure sounds like the airline industry is doing good! Except for CI.
