  • V Australia to Phuket and Jo'burg

V Australia have announced they will begin direct flights to both Phuket, Thailand and Johannesburg South Africa.

    As follows:

Melbourne - Johannesburg (2 x weekly commencing next March)
Melbourne - Phuket (1 x weekly commencing December)
Melbourne - Los Angeles (2 x weekly postponed until December)
Brisbane - Phuket (2 x weekly commencing November)

All flights to be operated by 77W. A VERY long 16hr flight awaits pax for MEL-JNB. Will be interesting to see if it works.

Also Pacific Blue will launch direct flights from Perth to Phuket twice a week starting in november. Six and a half hours in a 738 will be fun!

HOLY CHRIST! Are you kidding? That's going to be brutal to say the least...

Of course that will work. Try to book a seat on JNB-PER (SA) or JNB-SYD (QF) or vice versa and see what availability and fares are on these routes. No other airlines fly from SA to AUS and they both codeshare and revenue-share on one another's flight - so no competition.

        They'll make a killing on JNB-MEL.
warning: this post may contain traces of irony.

Do they give food and drinks on V Aus? Or do you have to pay for them?

If I have to buy, I'm flying QF.

Wow, just did my research, and the airline seems to be quite up to Virgin's standards for flying...
