  • Frontier signs deal with Horizon, dumps Mesa

This is not really a surprise considering Mesa's tie-up with F9's "good friend" UA. Can't wait to see the CR7's in Frontier Colors

The only thing strange about this is the fact that Alaska completely owns Horizon, and Alaska and Frontier compete directly on at least a few routes... SEA and PDX to DEN for example... I'd say that maybe the opportunity for expansion of the Frontier Express operations are pretty limited because of the Alaska ownership issue... but maybe not...

Mesa had to end their Frontier Jet Express agreement because of the new contract with United; United requires that their United Express carriers not operate flights for other airlines on the same routes. It does seem odd that Horizon is the new operator, as it is owned by another airline; but it is not a unique occurance, as Delta does have some Connection flights operated by American Eagle.
