  • Lufthansa will fly to Bogota as of October 31st

    Lufthansa has announced that will fly to its new South American destination, Bogota, as of October 31st. Flights will be held 5 times per week, with an Airbus A340-600

    I hope the flight will be a success; somehow I feel Colombian market is underserved; although it is quite restricted.

    Looking at the airlines that serve the nation, you might be onto something. When it comes to non-stop flights to Europe, the only current operations are AF, IB and AV. They could easily add a new operator, but competition will be tough to combat. I wish them the best.

      This could be an indication that Avianca will join Star Alliance.

        Good one! Didn't think of that.

        So, South America will host;

        LAN at One World.
        TAM and Avianca (the newly merged entity will also hold TACA) at Star Alliance.
        And no SkyTeam carrier.

        Who else would be left for SkyTeam to take on as a South American partner?
