  • Monarch A321 at LHR today. Why?

Yesterday and today, I saw a Monarch A321 departing RWY 09R (yesterday) and landng RWY 27R (today).

Now, knowing full well they don't operate into LHR, what was it doing at LHR?

      Charter, perhaps?
      Maybe an emergency diversion?

Either way - see post above!

Finnair is chartering some Monarch planes these days seeing as their cabin crews are on strike.

Theres also been a few Thomas Cook aircraft operating for Finnair, mainly the 767s.

How long is this Finnair strike due to last?

Until it's resolved. Keep in mind Finns talk s-l-o-w-l-y.

So Monarch's A321's will keep coming to LHR? Or will other chartered aircraft flying for them visit?

As long as the strike continues it would be a matter of which aircraft are available as Ringway Sam has mentioned Thomas Cook are operating for Finnair also.

Much the same during the BA strike. Various chartered European aircraft visited LHR at that time.
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

I was at one of the days when BA chartered Transavia, Jet2, Air Finland, Astraeus and EuroAtlantic aircraft, was nice to see so many airlines who never come to LHR operating for BA.

I was at Heathrow today and actually saw a Finnair aircraft depart, OH-LZB i believe it was, so it looks to me like only some Finnair aircraft are still being used?

                              Much to the spotter's chagrin...

                              It's over!
