Singapore Airlines has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft worth $8.6 billion at list prices, with options for 20 more of the jetliners.
Well done Airbus! So, more A350s will do well with them.
Don't forget that the first 777s entered service with SIA in 1997; the airline has always had a reputation for not keeping types for too long; by the time the first A350s enter service, the 777 will have been in service for 20 years (though not obviously the first aircraft themselves, which are well gone from the fleet).
Airlines need to think ahead; the airline still has a significant fleet of 777-300ERs, with a few more to come, which will be in service until the middle of the next decade. I wouldn't rule out 777Xs, but the A350s will certainly take over from the 777-200s.

Perfect. SIA was always an airline that looked into the future and they still do now. As an airline flying from a country with 5 million people and serving nearly 20 million pax they have to look ahead.
