  • EVA Airways 2003 Highlights

Taiwan-based EVA Airways has unveiled its 2003 flight operation plan.

    MD11
2 MD11 Pax will be leaving in May and August, for Pax-to-Freighter conversion.

Current MD11 fleet includes 3 Pax and 9 Freighters. Intial plan was 3 MD11PAX will be converted to Freighter.

However, the company decided selling 1 MD11 and lease back. As a result, only 2 will be converted. They will be converted by either Boeing or Alenia (Italy) or IAI (Israel).

It is expected that the former 2 will receive the contract, because its sister company EVERGREEN MARINE will have half of its container ship fleet carrying British or Italian flag.

It takes about 2-3 months to do the conversion.

    B747-400
Due to the high demand, 1 of the 10 B747-400COMBI will be converted to Freighter. It'll be used for London flight in Summer, as well as USA. Australia may have some chance getting 747 service.

On Cargo side, if demand continues to grow, EVA will sign the renewal of contract with 744F leaser.

    A330-200
First A330-200 will be introduced in June.[/b]

Isn't the first B777-300ER joining the fleet late 2003?
And the B777-200LR some time in 2004....

The 777-300ER is scheduled to join EVA's fleet in 2004, while 777-200LR joins in 2005.

EVA is expected to make an additional order of 8 extra 777-300ER.

          I don't want to see EVA's pax MD11s go...
But nice to see the 777s are going to join next year
