Virgin Atlantic eyes 2005 Chongqing launch

Preparation is underway at Virgin Atlantic for the possible 2005 launch between London and Chongqing in Western China.

Bilateral talks between China and UK is expected to add Virgin as the exclusive operator between London and the western Chinese gateway.

Virgin has set up an office in Chongqing. Passengers in this area are mainly students travelling abroad. UK representative in Chongqing is introducing student visa service, easing the time for students flying to Beijing for visa application.

I'm guessing that they'll fly the A340. The smallest long-haul long airliner they have. With this in mind, I couldn't imagine very high frequencies on this route.
