How do you distinguish a fire?

I don't think that it will ever take off again. It's 22 years old, so even if there is a chance to repair it there would be maybe eight years to follow....

Sad, but just not worth it....

With the extent of damage visible I would assume at least four times the area has experienced some heat damage. If the door frames have been damaged repair would be extreamly costly. I would guess a write-off.

To find the extent of the heat damage to aluminum will require Rockwell hardness and conductivity tests.

Here is a photo on the NTSB site that shows a good view of the damage from over head. It looks like the fire burnt also through the floor inside.

              Egress Rope Showing

Looks like someone had been in the cockpit and used an emergency egress rope to go out the co-pilot's window.

It would seem this airplane is going to be repaired.
