  • Birdstrike on Landing

Some impressive damage done to the plane here. Was a CRJ-2 as American Southeast 5087.

I love this bit from the news page...

Williams says Delta officials plan to examine the plane and decide if anything needs to be done.
Errrrrr.......quite a lot I would think. Don't bother with resuscitation on the bird though !
Just bring some sage and onion stuffing and orange sauce !!!
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

WWF should do something. World Wrestling or Wildlife ..

      Really one foot higher.

I wonder if that was one bird or a flock? Press said flock but the carcass could have hit the engine.

One poster thought whooping crane but the legs are the wrong color.

I would imagine a flock. There seems to be a whole carcass in the nosecone.
Doubt they were whooping cranes, they never had a chance to make a sound.

When I Googled it there was a better photo of what appears to be long legs or the distended sinew?

Whoopers have grey legs and that has yellow which narrows it down to about 80 species of common wading birds.

Only a CRJ-200 anyway... will be on her way to the desert soon, so why bother with a new nose...

We have big birds here in Arkansas...!
anyway those engines are supposed to "eat" several pounds of chicken, several pounds of ice cubes and several bucket of water....
