But those bastard rental places want like a 3 hour checkout for a 172

Yea those stupid rental companies and their insurance policies!

Congrats on the solo, when I did mine in February it was the most relaxing thing ever until the other private with his instructor called the wrong pattern out and would have killed me if he was right!

If you work hard and efficiently you can definitely get it done in 50 hours. The average is like 75, and the average here at our University is 50. Our actual private course you sign up for gives you 45 hours worth of flight time. I did mine in I think 48 hours so it's definitely possible.

So they've got both sides of the country covered now...what's next?

            Haha, anyways, congrats, dude.
As it's already been said, finish the job. It only gets better.

Thanks a lot guys. This is just one small step on the road to becomming a flight instructor and then ultimately an airline pilot.

Tanner, 48 hours is very impressive, congrats! I only know of one pilot of the many at my school who managed to earn his PPL in less than 50. And I agree, it was surprisingly relaxing despite how alert I was.

Get my Stage I checkout Sunday, then Thursday I solo at Livermore(LVK) and San Carlos(SQL), and the next step is I can fly 25nm XC's between those 2 airports.

Alec and Dale, for the places I can't terrorize by way of a Cessna, I have my flight bennifits on Skywest and United.

Alec, you know when I'm comming up there. Dale, I was thinking about non-revving to YYZ once my passport comes in, but United is pulling out of SFO-YYZ and I don't know if I get ZED fares on your airline. Otherwise I'd have to go SFO-SLC-YYZ on CRJ-900s, which would suck.

Chasen, the answer he's lookin for is "hold on, let me check with my dispatcher"

So that's why the inside of that Porter DHC-8 smelled so funny.
