    Dear Screening Team ,
Need help with this rejection .
This was rejected for Backlit I feel the light is well enough (not the best I know) as the tail which is the usual area to check for light is lit , not well since it was the top lit hour and also other shots taken before this were accepted .

    Photo - https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11111578

    Also ,
this https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11111526 was rejected for ' Categories wrong or missing ' I don't remember selecting a category . can you please tell me what went wrong here , wrong or missing ? also is contrast fixable ?

Is it worth an appeal ?
    Have a Good Day .
    Regards .

      1. not really backlit, but the light is harsh, and also heat hazed
      2. business jet selected. contrast might be fixable, but would be tricky

Dear Screening Team (Normal members also welcome to voice their opinion),
I have a big lot rejected recently and here's my take on the same ,
          1. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11393427
-The photo was taken before sunset on a foggy morning and unfortunately our weather is not just fog , its always a mix of smoke and fog resulting in what we call ' smog ' , so considering that I feel the photo should not have been rejected for ' Too much or too little contrast ' as we can clearly differentiate between the aircraft and the background and all colors are maintained in their originality and the sharpening is well set and surely not soft maybe some small areas but I feel considering the overall conditions it should have been given a chance.

          2.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11395270
          - Shot on a smoggy / hazy late morning , the colors of the aircraft have faded overtime and I have tried to maintain that fade , one might say the sky is not well edited , its that way due to the smog / haze and have not touched it for editing.

          3.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11395272
          - As the above , shot on a smoggy / hazy late morning , have not touched the sky for editing . Certainly not overexposed as evident from the histogram end lines not crossing the horizontal in the histogram moreover the white or the overall colors of aircraft are distinctively recognizable and not blending in the sky.

          4.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11395281
          - As the photo is shot on a smoggy / hazy late morning , have not touched the sky for editing . Also not overexposed as evident from the histogram end vertical lines not crossing the horizontal in the histogram moreover the white or the overall colors of aircraft are distinctively recognizable and not blending in the sky.

          5.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11395284
          - Although the histogram says overexposed , we can see that overall the photo doesn't blow out or hurt the eye which generally is the case of overexposed shots and hence I think the photo and photos like this should pass for all not just mine.

          6.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11395285
          - Shot on a smoggy / hazy late morning , have not touched the sky for editing and the overall colors of aircraft are distinctively recognizable and not blending in the sky. Don't know what happened with the exposure here as overall the photo doesn't blow out or hurt the eye which generally is the case of overexposed shots.

          7.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11391438
          - Histogram does say overexposed , but if I look at the picture in general I don't see any part missing details or overall the photo doesn't blow out or hurt the eye which generally is the case of overexposed shots.

          8.https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11391443
          - The screener says ' harsh contrast ' based on the histogram but if we look at the picture we can see the colors of the overall photo look ok , I don't know why and how the contrast issue arised.

Here in case of all the photos , I know screening is not easy and a voluntary work for all but I feel , maybe wrong, the screeners in general should before rejecting based on technology and software (histograms) only should also look at the overall picture before coming to a conclusion for tricky weather photos .

This is not an attack on any persons screening method or look , I just want to understand so as it will help me choose different editing work flow or better shots for upload .

Appreciate all and any inputs .

          Thank You !
          Regards.

Contrast is indeed poor in all of the images, yes mostly related to atmospheric conditions. No, weather will generally not be taken into account when screening. If you shoot in poor conditions, you'll simply need to accept that the chances of getting images through will be much lower.

Hello and a happy new Year Aneesh,

i will forward your E-Mail issue so you can receive Mails in the future again.

For your image - the haze/fog made the image look kind of dull.
Personally i'd say you can fix it by pushing the whites and highlights a bit (not extreme, so that they do not completely fade out) to get clearer whites and a overall better contrast.
May the decisions in the screening team differ...but you can try it and post your reworked version here to get feedbeck before publishing it again.

                Have a good day.
                Best Regards from Germany,
                Julian S.

                    Dear Screening Team ,
Need help with this photo .
I used the upload tool to check for histogram and it showed underexposed , if we see the picture in general it looks fine and similar to other shots taken that day .
As I have shot all other pictures that day using the same setting and edited using the same workflow as this but this turned up underexposed as per histogram.

Can you tell what could be the reason?
                    Have a Good Day .

There are other issues, but this image is not underexposed. Can't comment on the histogram unless you care to post it.

Indicates some bright spots, but not necessarily overexposed.

Much too soft for 1920pix, and some chromatic aberration visible.
