  • Hi ya,

This is in the queue, but I'm not sure it'll pass. I like it, as it shows the conditions at the time; early morning, cold, frosty and hazy, but would like a second opinion.

    Thanks as always

    • Special Scheme or not Special Scheme ?

      Hi,
Is it necessary to mark in the category of "Special Scheme" for this plane?
JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

I see in JP one picture of the plane without this mark, but I ask in advance to avoid rejection for that reason ...
      Thanks in advance,
      Erez.

      • Yes, both of the Dash-8 photos were blurry. As for these 5, it's the same problem, way too little contrast. This is pretty much what you need to achieve (on the left part of the image). Look at the histogram, it's your best friend. You shouldn't have any "gaps" where on the left and the right side.

Also, when I tuned the contrast on this image, the vignetting (dark areas around the image caused by the lens) as well as something that looks like a glare from a window (which would be a reason to reject even with proper contrast).

Looks like the horizon is off. When you have distinct vertical elements you should always use them to level the image. The poles behind the aircraft are all leaning to the right on this image.

Otherwise looks pretty good to me. Try adding a tiny bit of contrast to it though as long as you're gonna have to re-edit it anyway.

          Cheers.

Thanks for your time, I'll sort out the wonky poles and re-queue

I will let the WestJet go. Is the Jazz CRJ700 ok for motive?

If you allow me to continue what I have (almost done) it would be much appreciated.

                    Jan,
Motive for the Crj is okay, composition, contrast, exposure are not....

only pic 4 has a chance in the last batch. Other suffer from major contrast and exposure issue (pic 1 and 5 are also very blurry). As long as you don't get to learn to use the histogram, I'm afraid you'll have a hard time to get a good acceptance ratio....

                    Regards
                    Alex

                      Hi Michael,

I've straighten up the image and added a touch more contrast, how's it now, worth putting in the queue in your opinion?
                      Thanks!!

Thanks a lot Alex! I fixed the Jazz. I am going to spend a couple hours on Lightroom soon and find out how exactly the Histogram works, then perhaps I will have more acceptions. I'll give up on 1,5, they are nice for my personal collection. I am just glad the 77W is good (well a little adjustment) because that plane is my favourite and it came to YOW...
Here is the Jazz in queue.

                            • 1: Backlit/Horizon, but otherwise fairly well done - looks in focus and sharp
                              2: Blurry
                              3: Blurry, Horizon and Obstr/Clutter
                              5: Contrast and Soft/Blurry

What happened to 4 BTW :P

Without seeing the histogram's there may be contrast/Dark under issues here too, it certainly looks that way on quick glance, however the other issues kind of make it irrelevant because the other faults are fatal ones I'm afraid.

Shooting dusk/early night shots facing the setting sun won't work, unless you go all out into a bright sunset to create a silhouette type shot.

Thanks Garry! This is 4 but it`s probably backlit too.
