The first is very soft, and a little bright. The second is better, but also a touch soft and slightly high in the frame.

For your image, the center verticals are leaning a little left, so some CW rotation is needed.
Thanks dlowwa. Will re-process using center verticals.

Just tried working with the attached picture and have used sRGB iso RGB which I have done previously.

Looks a bit bright, and there may be some dust spots (not sure if clouds), but otherwise should be ok.

                This photo counts as backlit?

All three are borderline for exposure/contrast issues, with the second maybe having the best chance.

Yes, technically backlit, but might be acceptable as it's really only the top part of the tail. I'd be ok with it, but can't promise everyone else would agree.

I really want this one because of the ray of sunlight on the tail! thanks!!

Quite soft, and the glare from the tail could actually cause a rejection as it is quite distracting.

To reinforce what Dana says, this will almost certainly be rejected for glare.
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

                            • I've found out that photographing American Airlines aircraft can be a bit of a challenge due to their paint color being reflective enough to be both silver and white at the same time. Any opinions or suggestions about this shot? Trying to get my mix of sharpening enough without causing noise from over sharpening down. Of course my copyright would come off for the upload to here but sadly gotta protect what's put up because people like to steal things .

Sharpening looks fine, but this would most likely be a rejection for backlit, as there is almost no light falling on the tail.
