  • bmi british midland poised to take over ALL BA's euro route

    This is originally from Flyertalk.

According to BA's intranet, there are high possibilities that bmi british midland could take over ALLBA's European Route excluding Norway and Sweden.

It also mentioned that BA is in talks with KLM again.

However, BA's Rod Eddington has denied the KLM talk rumour. He didn't give clear answer on the bmi take over.

      It's probably a joke.
Why should BMI takeover the European network?
How could they do this job? Is BA going to give them their planes?

        No, it's not a joke.

The post on Flyertalk came out on March 30.

          Hi,
I can't believe this for one minute, bmi don't have the capability nor aircraft to cope with BAW's demanding European network. They only have 54 aircraft.

          Thanks

Well if this is true what does this mean for BA? I'm not to familiar with BA and British Midland's relationship but would British Midland and BA start a code share? It would seem to me if BA dumps it's Euro routes what's the point of operating at all? Are the medium haul and long haul routes really BA's only profitable routes and will they remain profitable if there's no European connecting routes?

                Doubted it'll be a code-share.

                That's MONOPOLY!

If not an April's fool joke, then it's quite clear:

BA will fly the long ranges, and be renamed BOAC.
BMI will fly the European stuff, and be renamed BEA.

The current BEA will be kicked out of the market, in good old manner .

                  Regards,
                  Peter
