  • BON JOVI's Plane Skids Off Runway In Hamilton

According to AP, BON JOVI discovered the true meaning of slippery when wet when their private plane skidded off the runway at Hamilton International Airport early Saturday (January 21st). At about 1:30 a.m. (0630 GMT), a private plane carrying members of Bon Jovi and their touring staff overshot the runway after landing in severe weather conditions in Hamilton, ON said a spokeswoman for the band. The Boeing 707 carried 14 passengers plus flight crew and was arriving from Buffalo, NY where the band played a show on Friday night. The band, staff, and flight crew left the plane with no reports of injuries. Shows planned Saturday, Monday and Tuesday at Toronto's Air Canada Center will proceed as planned, the spokeswoman said.

Just a guess, but perhaps the 707 is simply too loud, and hence banned from landing at YYZ. After all, YYZ has NIMBYs as well .

              Its as simple as this:

              Landing and Parking Fee's

Noise is not too much of an issue, DHL still sends their DC8s to YYZ almost daily now. Heck the B52s, AN124s, even the DC9s are fairly loud. It just comes down to cost in the end .

Last fall I worked for a limo company. We did the transportation for Bon Jovi when they were in town. I didn't drive Bon Jovi, but I did drive their luggage back to their airplane while they went to the venue. It was a lowly Gulfstream on that trip though!

                            Bon Jovi...one awesome rock band.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."
