Well, it should be noted that he is making an offer of 8.3% increase over two years with 4.8% in the first. So HE IS offering something.

It should be noted that it would be proper to see what other British carriers pay their employees as well as pay increases over past years.

I agree the comments are a bit harsh, but if you read the entire letter there is some sense in it.

But again, we should really see the numbers to make an educated decision.

Cam, the reason I said what I did was I do believe anyone that puts up their money and their expertise is entitled to a good return and money in their pocket. That being said he is stupid to have said what he did. No matter what he pays his employees they will always want more money and less work.

he is right on the principle, lots of employees would be UNABLE to replicate or just be successful if given the opportunity to set up their shops and more importantly to run it over a long stretch of time
Against -
he should have delivered a more diplomatic statement.
Verdict -
Reshuffle the Human Ressource Dept, or create one from scratch
Hire a new Human Ressource Manager really able to draw an unanimity on both sides
Do this asap to heal the wounds ....
