    Excellent point. For example, China Airlines 747-400 that overran and went into the water at the old Kai Tak in 1993.

      Brian,
      With regard to Skiathos. 757s & 321s can actually make it back to the UK without a stop. I knew 75s could but was suprised to see a 321 going direct to Manchester last year. Must have been pretty near its limits mind you. The MDs to Scandinavia & 320s/738s to the UK normally require a stop. Its hit & miss to be honest.

      Lets face it, if it wasn't safe to depart, they wouldn't. If they do when its unsafe, it can result with disaster.
