LH Cargo announced today that they want to buy/lease up to 6 new planes.

they also consider B777F and B747
as Airbus and Boeing can't deliver until 2011, they plan to eventually convert some B747 from parent Lufthansa.

nice to see the 747F again in LHC colours!!

Yea Wilco will be moving on from the MD11 to the 747 pretty soon. I am sure he has more insight on this.

I think, the 747 has more chances, as LH has also 747 in pax service (and on order: 747-8I)
the have no B777, exept of AeroLogic....

Hope they get some 747-8F.......They would look awesome in LH Cargo colors!
And also they could replace some older MD-11F

sorry, don't have any other news. Only the same what you heard/ read on the internet. Rumours have been enough that a decision will be made soon and that basically the 77F would be the only option as the 330F would be too small and 748F too big and the 350 would take too long to be actually joining the fleet. But it is all rumours. Some others said that they planned in buying new MD11Fs, but as there aren't too many available on the market and not particularly on LH standards (what I've been told) that wouldn't be an option at the moment.

As I am not flying Cargo anymore, I don't get too many news there. Sorry.

as I said, they plan to convrt the old LH 747, or lease additonal MD11F, from WORLD,.... prior to buy 777F and or 747.

777F: + because of AeroLogic - no other fleet commonality
747F: + they had the older vesion before, can convert their own,... - a bit too large
MD11F: + they have them already in the fleet. - they are getting older

would be nice to see both, 777F and 747 in the LHC-colours
