  • Aaaaaahhhh....right. (smartass !! )

OK then. For this one you're getting all the clues in one go...

Short runway...but too short for fixed wing other than a microlight possibly.
    Originally serviced by Russian equipment..
    ...then serviced by American equipment.
Now closed....but the routing still operates to a location very close by but somewhat lower than the airfield I'm looking for.
...and I go on holiday nearby.

Question. Name the airfield, the Russian and the American equipment.
If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

        No, miles out.

Read the clues carefully. There is a piece of text in every one of my uploads that will help.

        • Gozo ?

served by Mill8's originally, now by Polaris flying boats

          • Well done that man, Gozo it is.

A heliport operating transfers to and from Luqa with a very short runway as the Mil 8's used to have to take a run at getting airborne. Later operated by an Italian company using a Bell 412.
The helicopter flights folded due to high costs and low passenger loads and the route is now served from Valletta Grand Harbour to Gozo using a seaplane.

            Your turn.

            • Only a short answer to Peter: yes, I missed it, I rather thought of the Southern Netherlands, pretty much everything that comes up if you start in EDDL and then you go 100% West.
The German long haul is alive, 65 years and still kicking.
The Gold Member in the 747 club, 50 years since the first LH 747.
And constantly advanced, 744 and 748 /w upper and lower EICAS.
This is Lohausen International airport speaking, echo delta delta lima.

You have to guess correctly to do it, unless the one who should be doing it declares a free house, then it's who's the first to post.

                        • apologies - should have declared an open house if Gozo was correct. Got back from Kuala Lumpur last evening so only logged on a while ago. If EK380 has one ready then tgo for it.
