The crop is fine for both, so please choose the one you plan to submit. We can offer advice on editing, but not on selecting which one you prefer from a set of multiple similar images.

All I needed to know was whether the crop on either was fine or not rather than help in selecting which is the better one so I can develop my ideas.

I'm not sure what that means. My query related to were there any quality issues with either of them. If there weren't any, which of the two is the recommended crop. I'm not looking to submit both, just one of them.

I'm experimenting with a few things so wanted to check this photo. I'm also aware of the heat haze but having seen a number of similar photos on JP I wanted to check this.

Yes, heat haze/jetwash is noticeable on the aircraft. Would also be rejected for centering/too far.
