Too much or too little contrast...photos rejected

Hello,

I know that this subject has been mentioned couple of times, but still it is difficult to understand for me...
I am not complaining about screeners decision, just want to know, how to proceed in the future.
I got some photos rejected today, all of them are rejected because of the contrast, so if there is someone who could explain me whats wrong, I would be very grateful

1 and 3: lacking shadows
2: looks a bit washed out, borderline though, an appeal would have a fair chance ... if there wasn't that chopped off tip of the stabilizer

The photos were taken on an overcast day, which leads to having low contrast lighting. In most cases, photos taken on overcast days are unacceptable for Jetphotos.
