        Yes, good call indeed.
        However, in 1995 I flew YEG-YVR on one of Air BC's BAE 146's and I had a window seat fairly far back in the plane. It was night time and I could actually see a dull orange-red glow of one of the engines (looking into the rear of the engine). From where I was sitting, the angle must have been low enough to allow me to see into a part of the engine that was pretty hot, I gather. First I thought I was imagining it, or perhaps it was some sort of reflection from the cabin lights, but I'm certain that what I saw was a glowing part of the engine. I would never have though it possible. Had there been any light outside, it probably would habe made seeing the glow impossible.

          I think i recall seeing the same type of thing that AC-A340-500 described too. It was a 747-400 flight with SQ some years ago. It was dawn on a longhaul sector, and i'm sure i saw a red glow from one of the outer engines. Again i was sitting behind the wing.
