If this hole isn't plugged very soon, we are going to see suicide bombers taking this route. For once I'd like to see security do something proactively.

unfortunately and unlike other holes , the landing gears holes are the only holes that can not be plugged. this is to allow the Landing gears to extend and retract during flight
it works like this :

L.G doors open , L.G retract . L.G doors closes (the same applies during extention)

it might be helpfull to check L.G area during the pre departure check (prior fueling to ensure that no one is there
