Soft, and pretty harsh light. Another piece of advice: try to avoid shooting around midday, as that's when the sun will be most directly overhead, and giving you that bright glare off the top, but strong shadows below. As a general rule for my own shooting, I tend to avoid the hours of 10am-2pm as that's when light will be the most harsh (unless it's winter of course, when the sun will be low no matter the time of day).
