  • Hello, I am seeking clarification regarding similar photo rules. According to upload guidelines it is suggested that more than one window shot from the same aircraft is allowable.

    "2.6 Similar

Means that you have a similar photo already in the database.
    ...
We will only accept a certain number of cockpit or window shots taken in the same aircraft (normally no more than two)."

Here's my situation. Photo 11573381 was rejected with the only reason being that a similar photo was in queue at the same time. It was quite surprising to me that the screening decision was made based on a different photo not yet accepted into the database. Then, 3 days later, photo 11579267 was also rejected (for a different reason). Therefore neither of the photos were uploaded to database and it seems that the reason for rejecting photo 11573381 is no longer valid.

JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

I am aware that rejection decision will likely not be reviewed but before attempting to reupload 11573381, and for future knowledge, I would like to understand the following:

    1) Are there any issues with the image itself, other than it being considered similar to another?
    2) What is the correct and current guidelines regarding wing view photos? If it is indeed limited to 1 image per registration, perhaps there is an opportunity to update the upload guidelines stating the same?

    Thank you.

      1. borderline compression
      2. one wing view per side/flight

      • Hello, looking for help with this rejection.

JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

What's the issue with post-processing? There is only minimal editing done (mainly increased contrast and reduced exposure slightly) - I don't see any halos or anything that would be considered over-processed...
And what categories are missing? Special scheme? Not sure it qualifies for special category as it's just an operator sticker (I believe it will be part of regular livery until repainted in parent company colors).

Light editing halos visible. Category rejection was a mistake.

          • Hello,

Looking for advice with these rejections and what can be done to improve them to an acceptable standard:

            1. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11659814

I don't see any vignetting or overprocessing - any recommendation what to fix?

            2. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11657007

Unclear about compression artefacts comment and not sure what's wrong with the contrast.

            Thanks

Hello, please read here carefully when you get the chance:

As there seem to be some unwritten rules that are missed by newer users, here are a few suggestions for when you would like editing advice/prescreening from the crew: If asking for prescreening/editing advice, please title your thread "(username) - prescreening request / editing advice" Prescreening is offered

Rejections that have already been appealed will no longer be commented on by crew. Also, please try to follow our request to be more reasonable in your use of the appeal function.

              • I have not appealed #1; simply asking for advice how to fix that one as I don't see halos or anything associated with overprocessing. Any suggestions on that?

Regarding my use of the appeal function - in the last 3 weeks I only appealed 4 times (2 of which were accepted) - this can hardly be considered excessive or unreasonable. Nevertheless, to reduce the number of appeals, I did ask for advice in this forum for one of the most recent rejections (#1 above) and would appreciate any constructive input. I also got another rejection: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11662022 and would welcome an opinion whether it is fixable. Thanks

                • Hi, looking for advice on these rejections:

                  1. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11715128

Re: horizon - which lines were used to determine that it's unlevel and which direction it needs to be rotated? (I aligned the image to the horizontals - edge of taxiway, tree line and yellow sign, as lights and other signs are all leaning in different directions)

                  2. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11683205

Which compression artefacts I need to look for and any recommendation how to correct?

                  3. https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11662022

Is contrast fixable in this case?

                  Thanks,

                    1. needs a little CW rotation. verticals are always used first unless the actual horizon is visible.
                    2. sky is noisy/compressed. seems like a heavy crop, but if not, a re-edit might work.
                    3. cloudy/hazy skies. you can try adding more contrast, but not sure how much that will help.

Help with this rejection please: https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=11690753

What is the issue with the airline? It is clearly Samaritan's Purse as confirmed by the markings on the plane and by 100+ photos of this reg in the database.

You've posted in the editing forum. Perhaps you should ask the data editors.

How is this edit of previous rejection? Rotated CW and reduced exposure slightly.

Horizon ok for me, borderline overexposed/heat hazed/oversharpened

I am mostly wondering which vertical references were used to determine horizon is unlevel. There are no good long verticals in the middle of the frame; the shed in the background is level; the light poles on the sides and the runway signs are all leaning left and right.

                                Thanks.
